Do not allow anyone, not even a web designer, to register your domain name on your behalf. It is better for the domain name to be a done deal before moving on to your next decisions. A case in point, a retired boxer was shopping around for quotes for a site of his name and one of the quoting designers immediately registered the boxer's name and forced the boxer to cough up $500 to get the domain name from him since he did not get the design job.
